Deals Done: “American Idol” Finalizes Judges

After a lot of speculation and several switch-a-roos, “American Idol” finalized the deals of their new judges at the eleventh hour and the new team was in place for their first audition stop in New York City on Sunday.

Joining the returning Randy Jackson and the previously announced Mariah Carey are country superstar Keith Urban and hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj.

Ryan Seacrest is returning as the show’s host and Interscope Records chairman Jimmy Iovine is supposedly rejoining the competition series as the contestants’ mentor.

Fox released the first official photo on Sunday during the taping, but not before Seacrest took to Twitter to reveal the cast and their producers.

“American Idol” will have additional auditions in Los Angeles, Chicago, Charlotte, NC, San Antonio, Baton Rouge, LA, and Oklahoma City.

The show returns in January.
