T-Boz: TLC Singer Lands TLC Series

Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins of the 90’s pop trio TLC is gearing up for a reality series on, ironically, the TLC network.

TLC has ordered four episodes of the not-yet-titled show, which will reportedly showcase Watkins balancing life as a single mom while attempting to re-launch her music career.

The 42-year-old vocalist has battled with several major illnesses throughout her career.  Watkins was diagnosed with sickle-cell anemia as a child and it often posed problems with her touring with her group TLC. She is currently a spokesperson for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America.

Additionally, in 2006 the “Touch Myself” singer discovered that she had a potentially fatal brain tumor that was removed in 2009. Following the brain surgery, Watkins had to undergo therapy to re-learn how to speak and walk.

Watkins is no stranger to reality TV. In 2005 she appeared alongside her TLC group member Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas on the show “R U the Girl,” which documented the group’s quest to find an aspiring artist to record a single & perform with them after the 2002 death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

She also appeared on the second season of Donald Trump’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” in 2009.  The singer filed for her second bankruptcy protection in 2011.

Additional details on her reality series have not been released, however TV and radio host Claudia Jordan posted a photo on Instagram of her taping a scene for T-Boz’s show.  Jordan and “General Hospital” star Sean Blakemore joined the singer to judge a karaoke competition.
