Bad Boy Breakup: Day 26 Goes On Indefinite Hiatus

R&B group Day 26 is a product of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ MTV reality series “Making the Band.” The quintet, made up of Qwanell “Que” Mosley, Robert Curry, Brian Andrews, Willie Taylor and Michael McCluney, released two CD’s “Day 26” (2008) and “Forever in a Day” (2009).

Even after the cameras stopped rolling and “Making The Band 4: The Tour” aired in 2008, the group battled constant in-fighting and turmoil! In late 2009 when original member Que challenged the business ethics of their manager Joseph “Screwface” Charles,  Que was ousted from the group and the quintet became a quartet.

Two and a half years later, without having released their third CD as a quartet, the group is having internal drama once again. This time, the ruckus played out on Twitter.

Group member Brian posted several tweets telling fans that he would not be appearing at a North Carolina concert because he was unaware Day 26 was even scheduled to have a show.

Day 26 singer Willie then fired off a series of tweets declaring: “No we never kicked Brian out the group… Brian f—- the group up with selfish acts that we’ll address later. I was there til the end.” He them made a generic declaration that “jealousy is one hell of trait to carry,” which began a heated and inflammatory exchange between the two Day 26 members and several fans.

Today, the group’s rep Ra-Fael Blanco issued a statement announcing that they would be taking a “break.”

“It is with great sadness and deep pain that we regret to inform you that effective immediately, Atlantic Records platinum recording group, Day 26 have decided to take a break from the group and focus on their own individual projects. On behalf of all the members; Willie, Mike, Rob, Brian and even Que, we would like to thank all of the ‘fams’ aka fans, dj’s across the world, promoters, radio programmers, Bad Boy Entertainment, Starstruck Management, BET, VH1 and FUSE and all Day 26 supporters in general, for your unending support throughout these years,” said the statement.

It went on to say that Day 26’s “break” is only temporary. It concluded: “And as the saying goes, this is not a goodbye, but a simply see you later!”
