Beyoncé Knowles: Votes & Pens Letter For President Obama
Pop superstar Beyoncé Knowles showed her enthusiasm for the 2012 Presidential Election by posting images of her voting on her Tumblr page.
In a series of posts, the 31-year-old entertainer showed photos of her examining, signing and posing with what appears to be an official absentee ballot.
The Houston-bred singer also posted a personal handwritten letter to President Barack Obama that revealed her “respect and adoration” for the incumbent.
Beyoncé and her husband, rapper Jay-Z have had a public relationship with President Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama.
The couple has hosted fundraisers for President Obama — they recently raised $4 million in campaign funds when they hosted a fundraiser event at Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club — and Beyoncé re-recorded her hit “Get Me Bodied” for First Lady Obama’s fitness initiative, the Let’s Move! campaign. The viral video of the “Move Your Body” remix featuring the First Lady dancing made the rounds on the internet.
This past April, Beyoncé also wrote a handwritten note to First Lady Obama sharing that she was honored and inspired by her and she felt the First Lady was the ultimate role model for her young daughter, Blue Ivy.
“She’s a caring mother, she’s a loving wife, while at the same time, she is the First Lady!” Beyoncé wrote. “Michelle, thank you so much for every single thing you do for us — I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to.”
On Monday, Jay-Z performed along with Bruce Springsteen at President Obama’s rally in Columbus, Ohio. The hip-hop star remixed his hit single, “99 Problems” and substituted the name “Mitt” in and line where he usually says “b—t” on the track.
