TLC Movie: Group Won’t Cast Known Actresses

Casting is underway for the TLC bio film for VH1.

TLC group member Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas confirmed the movie’s development during a recent appearance on the “Wendy Williams Show.”

The 41-year-old singer told Williams that she and group member Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins are looking at undiscovered talent to play them and the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

“Casting is going on right now. It’s so weird casting yourself,” shared Thomas. “We did not want famous girls playing us, we wanted fresh faces.”

Using unknown talent may be disappointing to established actresses like Monique Coleman.

The “High School Musical” star, who competed on season three of “Dancing with the Stars,” told in a previous interview that it is her dream to star as Left Eye in a biopic.

“I want someone to do the TLC story and I want to play Left Eye,” she disclosed. “That’s the truth and it’s one of those things where I thought that I was meant to develop it or produce it. I would love to be a producer on it, but I’m someone that can develop other people’s visions. Left Eye was doing missionary work and blowing up people’s house and cars or whatever, there is a story there and here she is. That’s my dream role.”

No word on when filming of the VH1 movie will begin and if there’s a target release date.
