Financial guru Mellody Hobson has been named a Contributor and Analyst on Finance and the Economy for CBS News.
A former financial contributor for ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Hobson will began her new post at CBS beginning Jan. 20, according to an announcement made by CBS NEWS Chairman and “60 Minutes” Executive Producer, Jeff Fager and CBS News President, David Rhodes.
Hobson, president and a director of Ariel Investments, a Chicago and New York-based money management firm, has become a go-to expert for television networks because of her financial literacy.
In addition to her new position at CBS and existing work at Ariel Investments, Hobson is chairman of the board for Dreamworks Animation SKG, Inc. and a director of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., Groupon, Inc. and the Starbucks Corporation.
In the personal realm, it was confirmed earlier this month that the 43-year-old Chicago native was engaged to her boyfriend, Hollywood mogul George Lucas.
The couple has dated for seven years.
Hobson announced during Ariel Investments women mentoring program kickoff that former U.S. senator and New York Knicks star Bill Bradley would be walking her down the isle at the wedding.
The couple has yet to announce a wedding date.
The 68-year-old Lucas, creator of “Star Wars” creator, recently sold his company, Lucasfilm, to Disney for roughly $4 billion in cash and stock.
