Sales Surge: Destiny’s Child & Beyoncé See Super Bowl Boost
The one-named divas saw her digital album sales jump 230% following her mid-game performance on Sunday night; and Destiny’s Child’s music sales soared to more than 600%.
Halftime performers during the Super Bowl typically see a sales surge following the show. Beyoncé’s halftime show was viewed by more than 104 million viewers.
During her Super Bowl show in New Orleans, Beyoncé performed eight songs and reunited with her Destiny’s Child members, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
Destiny’s Child benefitted the most from the Super Bowl show, as the group’s new compilation called “Love Songs,” which features one new song “Nuclear,” had an inordinately large sale boom.
The album sales gains are also aided by discount pricing in both the iTunes and Amazon MP3 stores. The former discounted key earlier titles from Beyonce and Destiny’s Child to $7.99 while the latter marked them down to between $5 and $7.99.
In terms of digital song sales, Beyoncé’s grew by an estimated 85% while Destiny Child’s rose by over 300%, according to Billboard.
Beyoncé’s biggest selling song of the week was ‘Halo,’ which closed her eight-song halftime set.
