Chaka Khan: New Business Is Her “Sweet Thing”

Grammy-winning superstar Chaka Khan is flexing her entrepreneurial muscles by launching a line of chocolates and candles.

During Grammy Week in Los Angeles, Khan introduced Chaka’s Chakalates and Khana Sutra Candles.

Khan’s her signature products were offered in gift bags to Grammy nominees and are available online for fans to purchase online at and sold exclusively at Neiman Marcus stores.

The health-conscious diva, who recently tackled diabetes and high blood pressure by losing 75 pounds and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, claims her Chakalates won’t knock you off your health plan if you consume them in moderation.

Sold is packages of 12, Khan said the dark chocolate is good for our hearts and brains, helps lower blood pressure, and can help control blood sugar.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the chocolates will benefit the Chaka Khan Foundation, which supports women and children in crisis.

Her candle line, Khana Sutra by Chaka Khan was “born to soothe the mind, relax the senses, and center the body.” The 59-year-old decided to launch her candle line because she often used candles to make unfamiliar hotels feel like home while touring.

Her “long lasting and lean burning candles” have a nature-inspired fragrance of pine and is made with “the highest-grade essential oils and natural ingredients, concentrated perfectly to quickly scent your space without overpowering.”

These two products help Khan celebrate her 40th anniversary in music and entertainment this year.

In addition to Chakalates and Khana Sutra Candles, the singer will release a new CD called “The iKhan Project,” which coincides with Khan’s 60th birthday on March 19.

“The iKhan Project: Commemorative Limited Edition” will feature her new single, “It’s Not Over” and some favorite classics. The anniversary celebration will include a US and international tour and several other surprises.
