Soledad O’Brien: Confirms End To Her CNN Morning Show

Popular CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien has confirmed speculation that her morning show “Starting Point” is definitely ending.

During an appearance on Thursday’s “Wendy Williams Show,” O’Brien was asked by Williams at the beginning of the Hot Talk segment whether she was leaving CNN as many media outlets have been speculating.

The 46-year-old anchor denied an exit from the network, but did confirm that her morning show would be coming to a close.

“We’re talking about my role. As you know, it’s been reported a lot that the morning show is going in a different direction. We’re talking about what ways I can contribute to CNN. Doing stuff like I like to do which is hard-hitting journalism,” she offered.

When Billboard’s Joe Levy jokingly asked: “When you say ‘a different direction,’ are they going to do it in the evening?”

O’Brien shot back: “That would be a schedule I would like, actually!”

She went on to explain that she really likes “doing documentaries” and serious interviews that are “hard-hitting” and have her “grilling people,” but her exact role with the network after “Starting Point” was still undetermined.

“Starting Point” premiered on CNN in January 2012. The 7-to-9 a.m. broadcast has reportedly garnered the worst ratings for that time slot in more than in a decade.
