Roy Wood Jr: Comic Gets Promotion On Sitcom
Comedian Roy Wood Jr. has gotten a promotion on his sitcom, “Sullivan & Son.”
Wood and fellow comic Ahmed Ahmed had both had recurring roles during the first season of the TBS show, and now both have been upped to series regulars.
On “Sullivan & Son,” Wood recurred as Roy, the best friend of lawyer-turned-bar owner Steve Sullivan (played by Steve Byrne). Roy, who runs a video rental store, spends a lot of his time drinking at the bar.
Production on the second season of “Sullivan & Son” will begin this month in Los Angeles. The show will return this summer on TBS, but an exact date has yet to be determined.
Prior to joining “Sullivan & Son,” Wood was hosting a popular morning radio show on 95.7 FM in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. The 34-year-old comic left his radio career to focus on being an actor.
Entertainment Weekly named Wood as one of 12 comics to watch back in 2009.
