Dionne Warwick: Claims She Makes $10 A Month
Dionne Warwick is in financial turmoil. The ‘Don’t Make Me Over’ singer owes more than $10 million in unpaid taxes.
The 72-year-old singer has filed for bankruptcy in New Jersey, because of her whopping $10.2 million tax debt and fees to the IRS and the State of California.
Warwick claims to only have $25,000 in assets. Additionally, the singer said she makes $20,950 a month, but spends $20,940 monthly. That means she earns $10 a month.
Despite a catalog of hits—many of which she did not write—Warwick claims that she $1,000 per month from music royalties.
As far as her $25K in assets, the one-time “Celebrity Apprentice” star has listed two fur coats; two pair of diamond earrings; $5,000 in various gowns and 10-year old home furnishings. She also spends $5,000 per month on housekeeping and $4,000 a month on a personal assistant.
The five-time Grammy winner’s rep, Kevin Sasaki, reveals Warwick’s financial challenges stem from “negligent and gross financial mismanagement” in the late 1980s through mid-1990s.
“In light of the magnitude of her tax liabilities, Warwick has repeatedly attempted to offer re-payment plans and proposals to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board for taxes owed. These plans were not accepted, resulting in escalating interest and penalties,” her rep explained.
