Starting on Monday, April 1, Baiden’s former syndicator Cumulus Media Networks will debut a new afternoon drive show called “Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show.”

The show, which will air from 3pm to 7pm, will be hosted by radio veteran Skip Murphy and feature co-host Jasmine Sanders.

Skip Murphy

Murphy is a 30-year radio veteran who previously hosted a top-rated morning show in Dallas for more than a decade. Recently, Murphy worked as the substitute host on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” filling in when Tom Joyner took vacation days.

Sanders previously hosted mid-day radio in New York City. Currently, she hosts a television show for Centric called “Culturalist.”

“Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show” will combine modern music and R&B hits from the 80’s and 90’s, topical conversation and celebrity guests.

Jasmine Sanders

“‘Skip Murphy in the Afternoon’ will be upbeat, with humor, dishing on the latest trends, gossip and more. The music will provide the beat for an entertaining drive home. We will also begin testing more beloved and captivating personalities in the African American community in the entertainment category to be a part of the show,” a description of the show provided by Cumulus offered.

Cumulus has partnered with Reach Media—the Radio One-owned company that oversees the “Tom Joyner Morning Show“—to launch the new afternoon show.

“Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show” will be produced by Rob Wilkins, a former producer on the BET late night talk show “The Mo’Nique Show,” and producer of Mo’Nique’s short-lived syndicated radio show, “The Mo’Nique Show.”

Hey Skip ! Keep jamming brother. You got Michael beat, I never could adapt to his style. He was a hater towards men and I found that to be very GAY!

Sorry….. I’ll definitely keep it locked to the Doug Banks show. Not feeling this Skip guy! I HATE when he fills in for Tom Joyner, not enough personality. Very blah. Bad move to get rid of Michael Baisden.

I really liked Michael Baisden and liked the music that he played. Perhpaps he was too political but now I will change my station in the afternoon because Skip is boring and I hate his choice of music. I do not listen to Tom Joyner when Skip fills in for him. Perhaps now since he has his own show Tom Joyner will find someone interesting to fill in when he is on vacation

Sorry, but I enjoy Skip Murphy MUCH better. Less talk, a variety of music, some that you rarely hea anymore. With Michael, iit was the SAME old music, over and over again and it got stale.

I enjoyed the Michael Baisden Show. Congrats to George Wilburn. I still miss Michael Baisden on air. Skip was a good DJ. But now his show has been cancelled because most people like myself did not wanted to be dictated to. Cumulus and Baisden need to squash their differences and bring back the ‘Baddest Show On Radio, the Michael Baisden Show.’ Revamp the show with Skip as the DJ. He was a good DJ but I didn’t listen because I am a big Baisden supporter. Now Skip’s show is off the air. People know what they want. Make the money and squash your differences.
    My suggestion is that t
