Trading Places: Robin Thicke Out & Chris Rock In On “Real Husbands of Hollywood”

A few weeks ago, caught wind that there was trouble on the set of BET’s hit series “Real Husbands of Hollywood.”

We didn’t report what we learned at that time because a BET rep asked us to hold off on the story because they were working to provide us with detailed insight. Unfortunately, it’s been two weeks and we’re still waiting.

Regardless, we can now report that veteran comic Chris Rock has replaced R&B singer Robin Thicke on “Real Husbands of Hollywood.”

Thicke walked off the show several weeks ago and never returned. According to a source very close to the production, Thicke “got so frustrated with all of the chaos on set that he just couldn’t take it anymore.”

Chris Rock was told that “everyone on the set, with the exception of [Thicke] and Boris Kodjoe has large entourages of friends who create a disruptive party-like environment.” The source added: “They interrupt scenes with commentary and laughter and offer their feedback on the jokes and stuff. It’s all a big ole distraction.”

Additionally, the source claimed there are “like four different chefs on the show,” and that allegedly “the show was over-budget for the season already.”

The 36-year-old, blue-eye soul crooner walked out on an episode where he was the focus of the storyline. His part in that episode was rewritten for rapper Nelly and the scenes were shot over.

Now, Hip Hollywood has confirmed the addition of Rock to the cast.

The 48-year-old comic was a fan of the first season of the show and said he wanted to join the cast because “it just seemed like they were having so much fun.”

The show’s star Kevin Hart is excited to work with Rock because he considers him “a mentor and a friend.”

“Real Husbands of Hollywood,” which also stars Nick Cannon, Duane Martin and J.B. Smoove, will return on BET this fall.

The upcoming season of the show features guest appearances by Bobby Brown, Kelly Rowland, Anthony Anderson and Kelly Price.
