Ride And Drive: Dodge Is Back In The Compact Business

After a 7-year absence, the Dodge brand is back in the U.S. compact sedan market with the all-new 2013 Dodge Dart. This vehicle is the first Chrysler Group vehicle based upon a Fiat architecture that was adapted from the award-winning Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

In a climate where the economy is bad and gas prices are high, it’s no wonder that the U.S. compact car segment comprises 15 percent of the U.S. new car market. It was a no-brainer for Dodge to get back in on that business.

To introduce the vehicle in the Washington, DC market, Dodge presented a test drive and luncheon at McCormick & Schmick’s for members of the Washington Automotive Press Association (WAPA) at DC’s National Harbor. After a presentation by Chad Robertson, Head of Dodge Car Marketing and Mike Merlo, Chief Engineer for Dart; journalists and local tastemakers were able to take a quick spin in various makes of the new Dodge Dart, which offers 160-plus horsepower, fuel efficiency, interior roominess, style and sophistication at a tremendous value.
