Hot Topic: “Wendy Williams Show” Renewed
Good news for the nationally syndicated “Wendy Williams Show.”
Following a strong performance during May sweeps, the daytime talk show has been renewed on Fox TV stations through the 2016-2017 season.
The three-year pickup follows Wendy Williams’ previous two-year deal, bringing her total run to eight seasons.
“Fox’s long-term renewal is a testament to the incredible growth the show has experienced this season and the amazing talent of Wendy,” Debmar-Mercury Co-Presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said.
According to Fox, Wendy was the only talk show in all of syndication to post year-to-year growth, leaping 43% to reach a 1.2/8 in the women 25-54 demo.
The former radio shock jock’s ratings growth is contributed to the expansion of the audience favorite “Hot Topics” segment, in addition to the “Hot Talk” panel. Both show features allow Williams to showcase her previous radio skills.
The 48-year-old TV host, who is gearing up for her Broadway debut in the musical, “Chicago,” had already received a summer extension for new episodes this season because of her current ratings success.
