Whitney Houston: Broadway-Bound In “The Bodyguard”

Heather Headley is currently the ‘Queen of the Night,’ starring as Whitney Houston in the U.K. musical production, “The Bodyguard.”

Launched last fall on London’s West End, the big-budget show is gearing up to launch on Broadway in 2014.

Headley will play her final performance after nearly a year of working in the U.K. on August 11. She’s expected to return to the U.S. where she’ll promote her CD, “Only One in the World” that was released last year just before her debut in “The Bodyguard.” The CD features a cover of Houston’s ‘Run To You’ from the original “The Bodyguard” film soundtrack.

Beverley Knight

Following the 38-year-old Tony Award winner in the musical “The Bodyguard” will be British soul siren Beverley Knight.

Knight is a gold-certified U.K. music star who has released six studio albums internationally. The 40-year-old talent is a favorite of music icon Prince.

“The Bodyguard” includes tunes performed by Houston in the film, as well as some of the late singer’s greatest hits including ‘Saving All My Love,’ ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody,’ ‘So Emotional’ and ‘All At Once.’
