Wendy Williams: Lands New TV Special About Broadway Debut

Wendy Williams’ hot streak continues as the daytime talk show host has landed a new TV special on the recently rebranded TVGN, formerly the TV Guide Channel.

The network has ordered an hour-long special that will chronicle the chat host’s road to Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical, “Chicago.”

The as-yet-untitled special will show Williams’ preparation for the role as Matron “Mama” Morton on The Great White Way from rehearsals to opening night.

Williams made her Broadway debut last month and will play in the show until early August.

Having never sung before, Williams’ role on Broadways required she take singing lessons. The character of Matron “Mama” Morton was played by Queen Latifah in the film version of “Chicago” and landed the former rapper an Academy Award nomination.

Earlier this year, Williams and her husband/manager Kevin Hunter inked a first-look deal with NBCUniversal’s Oxygen network to produce reality shows, game shows and talk shows.
