Star Jones: Readying TV Return With New Show
Star Jones is gearing up to return to TV.
The former co-host of “The View” apparently recently began production a television pilot with Lionsgate-owned company Debmar-Mercury (“Wendy Williams Show“/”Jeremy Kyle”) for a legal-oriented panel show that she would moderate.
The ensemble show would be unisex and include five hosts, though Jones is the only talent that has been disclosed. The show would be a natural fit for legal expert, who has been serving as a contributor on the Ask The Professionals segment on NBC’s “Today Show” alongside Donny Deutsch and Dr. Nancy Snyderman over the last few years.
Jones’ relationship with Debmar-Mercury likely began as a result of her multiple appearances on the “Wendy Williams Show,” where the 51-year-old attorney offered insight on various legal stories in the news.
The Badin, North Carolina-bred talent, who launched her first clothing line Status By Star Jones via QVC last month, previously hosted a legal-themed court show prior to her nine-year stint on “The View.” Jones was the host of the syndicated court show “Jones & Jury.”
No word on when the pilot for Jones’ new legal show will be completed. Debmar-Mercury is finalizing a deal with TV station owner E.W. Scripps to partner on the show. Scripps owns 19 TV stations, mostly ABC affiliates, and has been experimenting with original programming lately.
