A-List Rides: 2013 Toyota Prius V3

It’s the car referenced often used as the butt of the jokes in movies and popular with the eco-friendly Hollywood stars – the Toyota Prius.

Laugh if you will at the Toyota Prius, but the v model is one of the newest additions to the Prius family, broadening Toyota’s lineup of gas-electric hybrid vehicles that has set the standard for environmentally-friendly automobiles.

The 2013 Toyota Prius V3 is a front-wheel drive, five-door liftback that is spacious, comfortable, offers great cargo space and of course the obvious, offers impeccable fuel economy and low emissions.

When I test drive vehicles like the Toyota Prius, I always anticipate taking some long road trip across country just to see how far the good fuel economy will actually take me. The curiosity of seeing just how far I could drive without refueling is so intriguing to me. (On paper it boasts 44 City / 40 HWY)

The Prius v is available in three trim levels – Prius v Two, Prius v Three and Prius v Five. All trim levels employ Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive, a hybrid powertrain technology that unites a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine with a powerful electric drive motor to generate 134 combined horsepower. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard, and three selectable drive modes provide more power without compromising fuel efficiency.

The Toyota Prius is the car Hollywood stars like Forest Whitaker, Miley Cyrus, Tanika Ray and Demi Moore all own. Why? Because its environmentally friendly and even Tinseltown megastars want to save gas on those extended Los Angeles commutes. The Prius has one of the lowest drag coefficients of any car on the market and in any class—with a fuel economy that the EPA projects will get you 50 mpg.

The car equipped with 16-inch aluminum wheels, passive entry/start, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, a USB port and Bluetooth hands-free phone/audio streaming; there’s also the voice-activated navigation, HD/satellite radio and Toyota’s new Entune multimedia system, featuring smartphone integration, text-to-speech and an assortment of mobile apps.

The Toyota Prius has a signature look, modern, space-age styling with lots of visually enticing digital images on the Information Center to show you how the vehicle functions. It’s the most aerodynamic shape for a five-passenger mid-size car.

Spin Control: With a range of $25,00 to $28,000 and for the fuel efficient benefit alone, the Toyota Prius V3 it’s worth every penny. It’s not the most visually aesthetic vehicle, but you love the value you get for your money.
