Not So Final: Could “Single Ladies” Return On New Network?

Could “Single Ladies” get a second act on BET?

VH1 cancelled the one-hour drama that starred LisaRaye McCoy, Charity Shea and Denise Vasi after three seasons and the final episode aired on March 24.

AlwaysAList.com has since learned exclusively that producers of the series have began putting out feelers with other networks to see if there could be interest in picking up the show.

We reached out to reps at BET about the possibility of them acquiring the show and they were coy on the matter.

“Single Ladies” cast

“We can not comment at this time,” is all a network publicist would tell us.  They did not deny they were interested when pressed further.

“Single Ladies” was cancelled by VH1 because the network is apparently going in a different direction.

The show, which also featured actors D.B. Woodside, Terrell Tilford, Harold House Moore, and Travis Winfrey, consistently landed solid ratings that grew each year.

Season one of “Single Ladies” premiered with 2.9 million viewers, season two had 3.2 million and season three boasted 3.5 million. Despite its success and growth, VH1 is ended the show.

If BET were to pickup the show, it would be the second show they acquired after another network cancelled it. After the CW Network cancelled “The Game” in 2009, BET picked the show up in 2010 and re-launched the series in January 2011.

If this show is picked up by a different network they are going to have to revamp in order to survive. Honestly, if LisaRaye is going to stay, they should either get Stacey Dash back or hire an older actress. The obvious age differences in the lead are too distracting. Fewer guest appearances by local celebrities and better stories. There was way too much Malcolm this past season. Better casting all around. The Wayans brother should not have been cast for his part or for the show. Getting kicked off VH1 should let producers/writers know yall ain’t do crap right!
